Use Attachment inside a written response when a question asks for a document or source file. You can add an explanation in the same response editor.

Prepare Your Work

Follow the question’s instructions about what the file should contain. Check the supported formats and file limits below before uploading.

Attach the File

Open the response editor’s + menu, scroll to Attachment, and select it. Choose your file and wait for its card to appear.

Scroll down the + menu to find Attachment.

Check Your Complete Response

Open the attachment with its arrow button and verify that it contains the work you want assessed. Include any explanation the question asks for in the editor or the attached file.

The file is attached inside the written response, alongside a short explanation.

Upload the file itself. A link to a document on another website is not graded as an attachment.
If the response area only offers image uploads, follow the image-response guide. For a recording with playback controls, use Audio in the written-response editor.

Common Questions

Supported text and source formats: .txt, .md, .tex, .json, .html, .css, .js, .ts, .py, .java, .c, .cpp, .cs, .php, .rb, and .sh.Word documents, spreadsheets, and ZIP archives are not supported. Export documents or spreadsheets as a PDF. For photos, use the Image tool.
