The Socratic Tutor works alongside you as you answer assessment questions. It uses questions and hints to help you think critically without giving away the answer. Each conversation is connected to the question you are working on.
Select the question you want to work on and ask the Socratic Tutor for help.
If the tutor is not visible, your instructor has disabled tutoring for this assessment.
The tutor appears beside your question and response.

Explain Where You Are Stuck
Describe the part you need help with, then select Send. The tutor has access to the question and your current response. You don’t need to paste your work into the chat.
Try asking “Can you help me with this?” or “I’m stuck. What should I try next?”

Use the Guidance in Your Response
Work through the question with the tutor until you feel ready to update your response. You can then ask follow-up questions about your changes.
The tutor uses your updated response in its next reply.
Chat messages are not used for grading. Enter your work in the response editor.
Select the sliders icon beside the message field to choose your preferred language, writing level, and response length. The Voice setting chooses the voice used to read messages aloud.
Adjust the tutor's explanations to suit how you want to learn.
Select the + button beside the message field and choose Add Image to share a picture of your work. You can also use the Whiteboard, Math Editor, Code Editor, or Molecule Editor to share supporting work that isn’t in your response.
Add supporting material or use an editor directly in the tutor conversation.
Select the microphone to dictate a message, then review the text before sending it.Use Read Out Loud beside a tutor reply to listen to it.
