Fill-in-the-blank questions place answer fields within the question's response area. A question may have several blanks, including fields inside a table. ## Complete the Blanks Read the whole sentence or table before entering your answers. Use **Tab** to move between fields, then check that you have filled in every blank. Select the blank and type the missing word or phrase. Enter only what belongs in the blank; the surrounding text is already provided. Distance equals speed times time, with speed and time entered in text blanks. Keep units outside the field when they are already shown, and follow any precision instructions in the question. A table of distance, time, and average speed, with 15 and 12 entered in the speed column. ## How Responses Are Graded * **Text blanks:** Exact match, though capitalization and extra spaces don't affect matching. * **Number matching:** Numerical equivalence. **5** and **5.0**, are treated as the same answer. * **Partial credit:** Questions with multiple blanks, allow you to earn credit for correct entries, even if others are incorrect. Use the exact requested word or value. Extra explanations or a synonyms may result in no credit.
